Melissa Hekkers

Melissa Hekkers is a freelance journalist, fixer, copy editor and author who has worked with Crewhouse Media since 2010, serving as a fixer, journalist and interviewer across many productions and shows.

Over more than a decade of collaboration, she has provided research, access, interviewing and field support for international media crews and documentary teams working in Cyprus.

Alongside this work, Melissa is a widely published author whose titles include the "Mandala" colouring book series (My Nicosia Mandala, My Akamas Mandala and My Cape Greco Mandala) and award-winning children's books such as Crocodile, winner of the Cyprus State Illustration Award.

She teaches creative and script writing to children, adults and migrant communities through European-funded programmes, and focuses her reporting on silenced communities in Cyprus. In 2019 she contributed to the anthology "Nicosia Beyond Barriers: Voices from a Divided City" (Saqi Books, London).
